2014-2015 Big Dreams, Bold Goals
SIA kept its momentum going during the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Together, we realized many important successes as we continued to Shape Our Future for Increased Collective Impact. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of members like you, we worked to achieve bold goals and made big dreams come true for women and girls around the world. Check out this infographic and reflect on all we accomplished in the last year.
Vote for Art Contest Winners!
Thank you to all the clubs that promoted the Art Contest this year. With your help, we received more than 1,900 entries from children around the world! Now visit the Soroptimist Facebook page to help pick the winners. Like last year, vote by “liking” the your favorite artwork in each category. SIA will post one category per week throughout February, and announce the winners once the fourth week of voting is over.
Volunteer Protection Act of 2015
Work with Lions Clubs International to urge members of the U.S. Congress to co-sponsor the Local Volunteer Organization Protection Act. Nonprofit organizations like Soroptimist are involved in a wide range of activities, many of which expose the organization, its officers and volunteers to potential liability. Although their intent is to serve the public interest, these organizations and their volunteers may inadvertently cause harm to others and are thus susceptible to typical tort claims. Read more about VOPA and use your voice as a Soroptimist to urge Congress to co-sponsor the bill.
SIA Board Meeting
The SIA Board held its first meeting of the new fiscal year November 12-15, 2015 in Philadelphia. Please read a summary of the important decisions that occurred during that meeting.
