Open Heart–Open Door
Are you interested in meeting Soroptimists from around the world? SI/Europe established the Open Heart–Open Door program, which offers Soroptimists the chance to create and strengthen bonds of friendship worldwide by opening their homes to Soroptimists from other countries. For more information, visit <http://bit.ly/open-heart-open-door>.
Friendship Grant
Would you like to meet Soroptimists in the Southwest Pacific? SI/New Zealand South Region is offering a Friendship Grant to a Soroptimist, two Soroptimists traveling together, or a Soroptimist accompanied by her spouse or traveling companion. The travel period is March 2016 and is offered for a maximum of 21 days. Return travel to New Zealand and travel between clubs is at your own expense. There is opportunity for you to extend travel to areas where there are no clubs but at your own expense. This Friendship Grant only applies to the South Island of New Zealand. Further details are available upon inquiry and help with travel plans will be offered to the successful applicant.
Inquiries and all correspondence concerning applications for the Friendship Grant should be addressed to the Friendship Grant coordinator, Maree Gentle, mareegentle@gmail.co.nz. The closing date is September 30, 2015.

2015-2016 Art Contest
The 8th Annual Soroptimist Live Your Dream art contest is underway! In celebration of our new program, Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls, this year’s contest will highlight mentors and role models. Students, ages 4-18, are invited to draw a woman who serves as a mentor or role model—a teacher, athlete, musician, business owner, etc.—and share how this woman inspires or motivates them.
Clubs can find materials to promote this year’s contest in the public awareness section of SIA’s website, or direct participants to the art contest section of Soroptimist.org. The submission deadline is December 31, 2015. Finalists will be featured on the Soroptimist Facebook page throughout February, with winners announced on March 8, International Women’s Day.
Big Goal
As Soroptimist approaches our 100th birthday, we need your help to define our next century. How can we realize our dream of helping even more women and girls? We are counting on you to exercise your voice in shaping the future of SIA. Find out how.
